One-man-crew logistics (update 2)

May 2012.

After a successful pilot with the first modified vehicle, 9 successive ones will follow. Herewith, this customer is able to cover the whole country with dedicated one-man-crew tours. The optimized process foresees to have weekly swap-outs of trucks by which the whole modification process will be completed after 9 weeks.

January 2012.

Approval has been obtained for one-man-crew logistics. The first vehicle will be modified. That will take about 2 months for manufacture, test and trail-runs.

June 2011.

Changes in the market have lead to the point where one-man-crew logistics is introduced in the cash-in-transit business. Until today, there is a legal obligation to perform these services with a minimum of 2 crew-members. Performing these services with only one crew-member is the only way to come to a significant cost reduction. It requires however some changes to the vehicles and processes because on the one hand, the legislator needs to be satisfied and an exemption obtained and on the other hand, the company itself and its employees have requirements to such a process themselves as well. I will, based on an existing vehicle type, develop a concept to perform one-man-crew logistics in an orderly fashion. In parallel, the modification of a vehicle  and the request for the permissions and exemptions need to be prepared. After approval, a first vehicle will probably be modified beginning of 2012.
